This career major prepares high school Seniors and adult students to earn their certification in the health field with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing as an AUA (Advanced Unlicensed Assistant). The AUA performs an assistive role to licensed nurses in acute care settings. Selected advanced skills, legal and ethical aspects of health care and appropriate personal behaviors are presented in a format combining classroom instruction, lab exercises and clinical applications. Students can earn advanced standing in MNTC’s Practical Nursing program, if accepted and can satisfy prerequisites. High school Anatomy & Physiology credit is available as well as college credit for Medical Terminology.
