Practical Nurse (Adult Only)

This career major prepares students to care for ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled patients in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, private homes, long term care facilities, other medical care facilities, and even clinical research. Duties vary depending on each state’s nurse practice act (regulations). Students provide basic nursing care, perform assessments and administer care to clients under the direct supervision of physicians, dentists or registered nurses. They are responsible for supervision of Certified Nurse Aides, Certified Medication Aides, and Advanced Unlicensed Assistants.

College Credit hours are subject to change without notice.
MNTC’s Practical Nursing graduates qualify for direct articulation into Associate Degree nursing programs at some Oklahoma colleges, pending acceptance to the college and its nursing program. The number of credit hours awarded will be determined by the college. The MNTC PN graduate must have graduated within the past five years and hold a current Oklahoma licensure as an LPN. Most Oklahoma colleges will allow an LPN to take challenge examinations for college credit.
