This career major prepares students to perform a variety of patient, office, and laboratory duties; such as, preparing instruments and materials, updating health and dental records, instructing patients on post-operative and general oral healthcare, organizing materials for restorations, taking preliminary impressions, pouring study models, applying topical anesthetics to tissue, and removing excess cement and sutures. During procedures, they hand dentists instruments and ensure that the operating field is free of excess moisture and other items.
