This is a college preparatory Career Major that combines academics and laboratory skill training to prepare students for continuing education in many high-tech fields such as medical research, pharmaceuticals, genetics, bioengineering, medical diagnosis, bio fuels, bioinformatics, agriculture, and environmental remediation. Students learn to isolate, extract, cut, recombine, and insert strands of DNA, and to use the technology required to process DNA evidence. Academics are combined with lab exercises to enable students to continue their education. To complement this Career Major's curriculum students must complete advanced science classes at their high school.
