Advertising Designer

This career major prepares students to use design principles to solve graphic design problems and communicate visual messages to the intended audience in innovative ways. They conceptualize and develop images for specific commercial or promotional needs. Students plan how words and images are presented in printed and digital formats including: identity packages, annual reports, advertising campaigns, magazines, books, posters, brochures, packaging, newspapers, promotional products, letterheads, greeting cards, CD covers, and invitations, and much more. They will learn to be skilled in various design software including page layout, photo manipulation, and illustration. They will also be skilled in developing unique, innovative, and effective solutions to design problems, and will have the ability to communicate and present concepts and solutions orally and in writing.
