This career major prepares students to work as production machinists who interpret industry prints and produce highly-accurate parts for projects and applications. Students learn, shop safety, mathematics, precision measurement, machine tool theory, print reading, semi-precision and precision layout, material preparation, along with saw, drill press, lathe, milling, and grinding operations. Students also learn manufacturing fundamentals such as speed and feed calculations, material selection, tool geometry and selection, and final part inspection.
