Small Business Assistant

This career major prepares students to research the potential for helping to build a small business. Students are introduced to career opportunities and the skills needed to become an entrepreneur by learning the fundamental concepts, principles, and ideas necessary for a small business assistant to be successful in an entrepreneurial environment. In addition, students gain skills necessary to effectively communicate with co-workers as well as customers and external business contacts.

Small Business Owner

This career major prepares students to envision, develop and manage their own businesses. Students discover the skills necessary to be an entrepreneur, including: developing a business plan, identifying market needs, marketing a business, maintaining accurate records and accounting processes, managing finances, and integrating technology into business functions. Students gain the knowledge necessary to make sound financial decisions, while also operating a business with the legal, ethical, and social obligations of today’s small business owner.
